Over the decades, rents in prime shopping districts of
Hong Kong have been soaring as more global luxury brands move in. With rents as
high as HK$21,197 per sq. ft.*, Causeway Bay becomes the second most expensive
retail location in the world, just after New York's Upper Fifth Avenue. Hong Kong's
high rental costs have driven out most SME restaurant businesses.
Regrettably, some long-standing restaurants that had been serving customers forgenerations closed because of rising rent.
